A supplier catalog is never "done". A supplier adds a new category nobody has mapped yet. The same brand is written in capitals in one feed and in lowercase in another. Before the season one category needs a different markup, and new products need Latvian and Estonian translations. Each of these jobs takes only a few minutes, but there are dozens of them every week, and each one means finding the right page and the right filter.
Now you can do the same work by writing one sentence to your AI assistant. Unified Suppliers connects to Claude and ChatGPT, so the assistant sees your suppliers, categories and products and can manage them on your behalf.
What MCP is and why it matters
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to other systems. Until now an assistant could only tell you what to click and where. Connected through MCP, it reads the data it needs and makes the changes itself, while you see what it is doing.
Unified Suppliers has its own MCP server. You can connect it to claude.ai, Claude Desktop and ChatGPT, and also to Claude Code or Codex if developers work on your team.
What the assistant can do
- Categories. Show how many supplier categories are still unmapped, suggest and save mappings, create a missing category of your own or tidy up category tags.
- Brands. Unify the name a brand is sent under to your store and marketplaces.
- Pricing. Show your current repricing rules, create a new rule with a formula and conditions, or change an existing one.
- Products. Find products by name, code, EAN, supplier or category, approve them, set a recommended retail price, extra identifiers or a clearance sale.
- Translations. Fix a product's title or description in any language and run automatic translations for new products.
- Exports. Review your export profiles and pause one when you need to.
Three examples from everyday work
1. New supplier categories
"Which supplier categories are not mapped to our categories in Lithuanian yet? Map the obvious ones yourself and ask me about the doubtful ones."
The assistant counts the unmapped categories, compares their names and sample products with your category tree, and gives you a list: where it suggests mapping each one and why. It saves the clear cases in one step and shows you the doubtful ones. Work that used to mean going through the category list row by row becomes a short conversation.
2. A seasonal markup
"Show me which pricing rules apply to garden furniture right now. Until the end of the season give this category a 25% markup and leave everything else as it is."
The assistant reads your current rules, creates a new one with the right condition and priority, and explains which products it will price. When the season ends, just ask it to switch the rule off.
3. Translations for new products
"Run the automatic translations for Latvian. Then find the product with this EAN and fix its Lithuanian title: it should include the model and the colour."
The assistant runs the automatic translations with the same settings you use in the app, and fixes the single product's title as a manual translation that later automatic runs will not overwrite.
Is it safe?
- No passwords for the assistant. Claude and ChatGPT connect through OAuth: you log in to Unified Suppliers and click "Allow". The assistant never sees your password.
- Only your data. The assistant works on your behalf and sees only the teams you belong to. Other customers' data is out of its reach.
- Reading and changing are separate. Actions that only read data are marked as reading, so the assistant does not bother you about them. Before a change it may ask you to confirm.
- Disconnect any time. Connected apps are listed on the MCP setup page in your account, where you disconnect them in one click.
How to connect
- Open the MCP setup page in your account and copy the server address.
- In Claude (claude.ai or Claude Desktop) go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. In ChatGPT go to Settings → Apps → Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode and choose Create app.
- Paste the address, choose OAuth, log in to Unified Suppliers and click "Allow".
Claude Code and Codex connect with a key you create on the same page. That page also lists every tool and shows your usage statistics.
We connect, you manage
We set up your suppliers, exports and initial settings. MCP is for what comes after: the small everyday changes you no longer have to put off "until there is time" or hunt for in the menus. Prices and stock still refresh every hour, and the shape of your catalog follows your decisions, which you can now simply say in words.
The MCP connection is included in every plan. See the plans on the pricing page, or write to us if you want to see how it would work with your suppliers.
